Using this site
Terms of Use
Last updated: 24 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and The Orange Ribbon. They are short and written to be understood. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them, to our Privacy Policy and to our Community Guidelines.
1. This is peer support, not medical care
The Orange Ribbon is a place for people to share their own experiences. Nothing here is medical, legal or professional advice, and nothing replaces your own doctor or care team. Members are not necessarily medical professionals, and what worked for one person may not suit another. Never start, stop or change a treatment because of something you read here.
In an emergency, or if you are thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number or a crisis service straight away. Our support page lists places to turn. We cannot monitor the site at all times and cannot respond to emergencies.
2. Who can join
- You must be 18 or older.
- You must give a real email address that you can open, and confirm it. You may keep only one account.
- You are responsible for your password and for what happens on your account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has got into it.
- Usernames must be unique, kind and clean. You may not copy or imitate another member or pretend to be someone else, including our staff.
3. How we behave here
Our Community Guidelines are part of these terms. In particular, you agree not to:
- harass, bully, threaten or discriminate against anyone;
- post foul language, or politics about people, parties or elections;
- advertise, spam, sell things, or promote miracle cures;
- share your own or other people's private details, such as full names, addresses, contact details or medical records, without that person's clear permission;
- post anything illegal, including content that infringes someone's copyright, or photos of other people taken without their consent;
- upload viruses, try to break into the site, or interfere with how it works, including by automated means.
4. What you post
- It stays yours. You keep ownership of what you write and upload.
- You give us permission to show it. By posting, you give us a free, non-exclusive licence to store, display and share your posts and photos on the site, as described in our Privacy Policy, for as long as they are on the site. We do not use them for adverts or sell them.
- It is public. Threads and replies can be read by anyone, including people who are not members, and search engines may show them. Do not post anything you want to keep private.
- You are responsible for it. You promise that you wrote it or have the right to post it, and that it follows these terms. What members say are their own views, not ours.
- You can edit or delete your own posts at any time.
5. Moderation
Volunteer moderators and our staff may edit, hide or remove any content, and warn, suspend or remove any account, if they believe these terms or the Guidelines have been broken, or to keep people safe. We try to be fair and consistent but may act without notice where we need to. If you think we have made a mistake, contact us (write to orangeribbonza@gmail.com.) and we will look again. Please use the Report link on any post that worries you.
6. Copyright and complaints about content
If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright or your rights, or is unlawful, tell us where it is (a link) and why: write to orangeribbonza@gmail.com. We will look into it promptly and remove it where appropriate.
7. The service
We offer the site free of charge and run it with care, but it is provided "as is". We may change, pause or stop it, or any feature, at any time. We cannot promise it will always be available or error-free. Links to other websites are for your convenience; we do not control and are not responsible for them.
8. Our responsibility to you
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for losses caused by what members post, by relying on anything on the site, or by the site being unavailable. Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer where you live.
9. Ending your membership
You can stop using the site and delete your account at any time from your profile (see the Privacy Policy for what happens to your posts). We may end or suspend your access if you break these terms. Sections that need to survive, such as 4, 8 and 10, continue after your account ends.
10. Changes and the law
We may update these terms. If we make an important change, we will say so on the site, and using the site after that means you accept it. These terms are governed by the law of the country where The Orange Ribbon is established, and disputes go to the courts there, but this does not remove any rights you have under the law where you live.
